ΔΣΘ Sorority History
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated (ΔΣΘ) is a private, non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote human welfare through established programs in local communities throughout the world. We are a Sisterhood of over 200,000 college-educated women belonging to greater than 900 international chapters.

ΔΣΘ was founded on January 13, 1913 by twenty-two women at Howard University. These brave women were committed to using their collective strength to promote academic excellence; to provide scholarships; to provide support to the underserved; to educate and stimulate participation in the establishment of positive public policy; and to highlight issues and provide solutions for problems in their communities.
